Cheeku
Third year running and your tournament is going strong…On the field flags flutter in the wind, you smile from the posters around the field…Rana Sir, Hari Sir, Dandiya Sir-all your coaches and sports mentors walk around the field with a sense of purpose…Fr. Principal, in his inimitable style, fades into the sahdows and watches everything without being seen…and the players struggle hard, play hard to win the trophies that bear the name of the one who ‘touched the lives of so many in so many ways in such few years’ as Tubby said.
Fr. Jose Phillip spoke from his heart as the Chief Guest when he said that ‘Anirudh and I played on this court together’ or when he recounted that how, in Class X, when the father of a classmate of yours who was economically not so well off, met with an accident you went up to him and asked him if you and your friends could in any way help.
Yes, the tournament is growing into a festival as Fr. Principle had promised last year and St. Xavier Jaipur comes alive with festivity and excitement this time of the year. Your friends Gaurav, Deepesh, Callie, Ravi, Patni…and your inseparable brother Tubby, are all there-as if they expect you to jump on to the courts any moment. Your magic is all around and I could sense you running on the basketball courts with the ball, shooting a three pointer, screaming at a team mate to pass the ball, sweating profusely…then putting your arms around the shoulders of your friends and laughing…yes, I could sense you all around. And yet…
Wish you were here
Dad
